Muritai Cottage    Ostend

Muritai Cottage offers peace and privacy in a garden idyll that is home to many native birds. It lies a mere 6 minute walk from the panoramic boating haven of Putiki bay: Muritai tmeans 'sea breeze' or 'wind from the sea'.

This sunny, historic kauri cottage with north facing, sheltered indoor-outdoor flow is a joy for those wishing to just chill.  Ideally suited to two couples, this home is centrally located, in the quiet haven of a little known cul-de-sac. You'll be away from the hustle and bustle of Waiheke, while close to all you need to experience the island. It's just a seven minute stroll to the Saturday Market, the supermarket, and an eclectic mix of shops and food and beverage outlets, including the famous Te Matuka Oysters.

You'll relax on the expansive deck, enjoying the peaceful view of the terraced cottage garden, take a stroll through Te Toki Reserve, along the Okahuiti Inlet, or around Anzac Bay. Goldies Vineyard is a twenty minute walk over the causeway, where you'll see the ever changing outlook as the tide ebbs and flows. Palm Beach is about a 25 min shady walk away. Or you can hop on a bus just three doors down from the cottage. It'll take you to Matiatia, Oneroa, Palm Beach or Rocky Bay. It's a five minute stroll to the bus stop for Onetangi. There are big tables for outdoor dining on the big deck, games and jigsaw puzzles, outdoor chess, and a day bed in a covered part of the deck. A grand old plum tree graces the scene. Tūī, fantails, silver eyes, riroriro and kererū abound, and the occasional kaka.
