Description

Aratai is one of our beautiful Maori words meaning "pathway to the sea".
This completely renovated house is set up for entertaining and is just steps away from the ocean.
Back from the main road that runs through the village of Surfdale, not only are you close to the beach, but also 2 minutes walk away from the local pizzeria ‘Stefanos’ (child friendly and great food). For the adults there is "Thymes Table" restaurant, recently voted one of the top restaurants in Australasia, "Island Thyme Delicatessen" which serves some of the best coffee on the island, as well as the local dairy, an Irish pub and two further cafe/takeaways.
The house which has been extensively renovated during the last 2 years boasts 3 large bedrooms and nicely appointed living and kitchen areas with everything you need.
The courtyard at the back of the house is perfect for entertaining on those long balmy summer evenings for which Waiheke is so renowned. There is an outdoor fire, sun loungers, bean bags, plenty of seating and dining facilities, 6 burner BBQ and a patio heater.
A 30 metre walk down the road, the shelly beach stretches out in both directions and you can stroll to your hearts content. Let the kids run riot - if the tide is out they can explore the rock pools and collect beach treasures, if the tide is in, they can splash about in the water at this great child safe beach. Explore the wider bay in the 2 kayaks provided.
There is off street parking if you wish to park your boat with the bonus of being able to launch a small/medium one at the local beach.
Centrally located, this holiday home has adventures in every direction.
Conveniently located on the main bus route, it is only 5 minutes in the car to Oneroa Village, with its wonderful array of cafes, art and gift shops and fabulous Oneroa beach.
The other direction takes you to the supermarket or 5 minutes further on to the great sweep of world class Onetangi beach with it's beachfront cafes.
Or you can visit one of our many world class Vineyards.
Nowhere is far from anywhere on Waiheke, so take your pick and take your time - island time!

Testimonials

  • Great place, would recommend Sam, Jan 2012
  • This bach was extremely well equipped, the bedding configuration was just right for our group of five adults and one toddler. The toys available to use were an excellent touch as was the quality linen, electric blankets and nice toiletries. The location was excellent, however the pub food was not!! We were disappointed in the condition of the BBQ we felt this was unuseable and dissapointed that there was only one kayak. Joan, Apr 2011
