  • A cosy place with an ever-changing view. The bed was comfy, the space was lovely and it was nice and warm in the middle of winter. We will definitely be back! Make sure you sit, watch the boats and listen out for the Tui birds singing in the trees! Thanks for the great communication and for letting us use this great place.

  • Amazing view, gorgeous cottage, impeccably clean, had everything we needed. So cosy for a wintry weekend but would be amazing in summer too. We had a car and it was conveniently located to get to all corners of Waiheke. Richard communicated really well and gave fab recommendations for places to visit and restaurants to eat at. We’d definitely stay again.

  • Wow! What a stunning view and lovely home. We arrived just in time to make sunset on our first night. It’s such a great spot on that balcony that we chose to cook and enjoy the next night there too. So many lovely things to do on the island and really appreciated Richards suggestions. Akito has great coffee! Lovely comfy beds and good quality sheets and towels. I slept so well. We would definitely stay again. Your place is the best!! Absolutely loved it. Hopefully I can stay again in the future.

  • The Black Bach is a fantastic little property in a beautiful and peaceful location with amazing views. We enjoyed 3 nights here and could happily have stayed much longer. The house was exceptionally clean and the decor is lovely. We found the house to be well equipped and very well thought out for a small space. We really appreciated the covered deck and spent a lot of time out there - the outdoor heater was a nice touch and enabled outdoor dining in the evening. Richard very kindly dropped off a welcome bottle of Waiheke wine and the whole booking/ checking in process was very smooth. We didn’t have a car for this trip which was fine for us as we like walking around the island, but for anyone with mobility issues, walking to the village or bus stop could be a problem. Also, the bedrooms are very light early in the morning so if you are used to blackout blinds your dreams of a long sleep in might be dashed! On the other hand, sitting in bed with a coffee and the windows to the deck open is the perfect start to the day at any time. Would love to stay here again.

  • This place was so dreamy! The decor in the cabin was my favourite part, the beautiful windows with the ocean views.. incredible! It’s just a short walk to the beach & town so it’s in the perfect location! The host gave us so much information about everything we could see & do which made our trip that extra bit special! I’d highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Waiheke. Couldn’t fault it at all!

  • Thankyou so much for ensuring we got a lovely place to stay on Waiheke island. We had an amazing time for my partners 30th birthday and felt we really lucked out with the bach on Burrell. It was clean, tidy and perfect. We enjoyed heated breakfasts on the balcony each day and was easy walking to Oneroa. We would 100% come back we were very sad to be leaving!

  • A very chic Bach , easy to find, easy to use, although it was raining and chilly while we were there the bach was very warm. The covered terrace was a lovely spot to sit with an amazing sea view. Overall a really great place.

    Courtney Hucker, Mar 2021

  • The most amazing view out to Blackpool beach, and bang in between Oneroa and Surfdale, so amenities are only a short walk or drive away. Such a peaceful and beautiful spot with everything you need in one place. Thank you Richard and Sharonagh.
    Jessica Ellison, Feb 2021

  • 'The house is located in a very convenient location and at the end of a no-exit street which makes it feel very private and secluded. We had a car which made it easy to get around (felt close to everything!), and there is a nice off-street parking spot just in front of the house. The space was absolutely perfect for us (party of 2) and we loved the indoor/outdoor flow. It has been impeccably designed and decorated and the outdoor space and view are spectacular! You won't want to leave the house. A wonderful spot on Waiheke.'
    Meagan Halpin, Fen 2021

  • 'Richard met us at his place and shared his local knowledge and tips on places, vineyards, vintages and things to do. The house is tidy and has a nice view out over the water. The birdsong in the morning and evening provides a fitting soundtrack to the backdrop.'
