Description

This cottage is a restored shearers’ quarters used when this 350 hectare (1000 acre)
property was a farm carrying more than 3000 merino ewes in the 1920s and 30s.
Te Matuku Bay is a Marine Reserve. The Department of Conservation land across the
bay hosts many wading bird species. Paddle the Indian canoe or the paddle boards
provided to explore the mangrove forest.
The oyster farm, part owned by the Fenwicks, produces Te Matuku branded oysters
to Auckland’s best restaurants. They are available, along with fresh fish, at the Tahi Rd
Oyster Shop.
The property also farms sheep and cattle and a market garden.
This beautiful farm cottage, on the waters edgeis perfect for a romantic getaway or a family holiday. Because of its location it is necessary to bring a vehicle if you want to explore Waiheke Island.... vineyards, restaurants, arts and crafts and white sandy beaches.

1 bedroom with a Queen bed, the 2nd bedroom a double bed and the 3rd bedroom with a set of bunks. Extra people can sleep in their own tent out on the flat front lawn, by the water's edge.

Open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge. Four burner electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and a coffee plunger.

Lounge:

IPOD dock and 2 couches.

Dining room:
Dining table and 6 chairs.

Laundry: 
Washing machine, dryer and clothes line. All linen provided. Iron and ironing board.

Outdoor facilities: 
Verandah across the front of the house, BBQ, outdoor furniture and a large flat grass area. An Indian conoe and life jackets is available to use to explore the mangrove forest, marine reserve and oyster farm. There are also a couple of paddle boards available.

Closeby attractions:
Poderi Crisci Restaurant (back over the hill), Passage Rock (at the gate) and Man O' War Bay Vineyards (15 - 20 minutes drive away).  Plenty of bush and coastal walks.  30-40 minute drive to Oneroa Village and the passenger ferry at Matiatia.  Approx 25-35 minutes to the car ferry at Kennedy Point. Te Matuku has many archaeological sites with kumara pits and pa sites along the ridgeline of the proeperty, offering spectacular views over the Hauraki Gulf.
